In Bruges

Jared and I went to Bruges last weekend for a romantic getaway. Nae Nae stayed with the kids and from what I've been told it was a flurry of popcorn, slumber parties and park visits. Bruges is in Belgium and it is an unbelievably beautiful canal city that has most of its medieval architecture intact. We wandered around marvelling at the buildings, eating waffles topped with caramel and ice cream, stopping at the chocolate shops which fill the city and spending hours in the cafes. It was brilliant. Medieval bell tower in the center of the old market square.

One of the few Michaelangeo's to be found outside of Italy. This Madonna and Child is in the amazing Church of Our Lady. We went right after mass and we could still smell the incense.

Jared eating in a cafe. His steak came raw and he cooked it on a salted hot stone at our table. Other culinary delights in Bruges: the aforementioned chocolate and waffles, french fries drowning in garlic or pepper mayonnaise, mussles and other delicious fish.

The city looks beautiful! I've had a little sneak preview of it in the movie "In Bruges" (which actually makes Colin Farrel likable), but would LOVE to go there and visit sometime. What was your favorite part about the city?
