Went to Castle Acre today. Thorunn, Ulysses and Bronwyn had fun climbing the ruins. Then we visited what was supposed to be the recreation of an Iceni Village (Celtic, Roman times) owned by a local lord. The village was a bit sad -- a few thatched buildings with chipped mannequins wearing painted on blue tattoos. But Lord Sam Roberts had managed to put together a collection of other things that proved to be much more kitschy and interesting, including broken dioramas about the history of time, 19th century farm equipment, a collection of carriages, a 4,000-year-old skeleton, and a woman named Sue, who was spinning wool into yarn and selling tea.
