For Kurt
all these facts are true insofar as they are translated correctly
Happy Birthday
24 is the age of Kurtie a.k.a. Ace, Cyanide+, Lucky Luciano, Visionay….
This number is also the sum of a twin prime (11 + 13).
Triskaidekaphobia is the fear of the number 13 and I first met Kurt when he was 13 so I have a fear of him that I take too far…
I tend to push things, even too far for humors sake, one mightsay, to 11
In the film This Is Spinal Tap, guitarist Nigel Tufnel proudly shows off a Marshall amplifier with top settings of 11, higher than the traditional 10. The phrase "Up to eleven" or "These go to eleven" in popular culture has come to refer to anything capable of being exploited to its utmost abilities, or to exceed them, such as a sound volume control. Similarly, the expression "turning it up to eleven" may refer to the act of taking something to an extreme.
Extreme is a clever marketeng tool. I feel compelled to buy things if they are extreme. Extreme things are popular with gen x.
Generation X is generally, nay extremely, marked by its lack of optimism for the future, nihilism, cynicism and lack of beliefs and trust in traditional values.
Gen X is generally considered to end in 1978. Kurt is clearly a member of Generation Y.
Generation Y is generally considered to have the following trends and problems:
Underage drinking and illicit drug use is prevalent among high school and college age members of Generation Y.
Marijuana, methamphetamine, cocaine, and inhalants seem to be most favored.[5] Drug usage prevails even in spite of (and, in some cases, because of) most Gen Y members undergoing programs such as D.A.R.E. during childhood.[6]
Kurt was a staunch member of D.A.R.E. after winning an essay contest.
Little did we know how handy those public speaking skills would come in later as he untacfully negotiated with a police officer when the ownership of some zig zags came into questions one day at a party in Kalamazoo.
Kalamazoo is the Town that Kurt grew up in. It is also know as Mall City.
Malls are where such late 80’s greats like Tiffany got their chops.
Tiffinay went on to buy Chuck Norris' mansion in 1989.
1989 is the year Vanilla Ice released Hooked, the album that contained the song Ice Ice Baby.
Ice Ice Baby profoundly influenced Kurt to become a Hip Hop performer.
Originating from socially marginalized groups, the hip hop culture is spontaneously nonconformist in relation to the western system of values and aesthetics, but what is Kurt's exscuse for that Utah Jazz shirt he’s sportin’?
Kurt gave the other disenfranchized white male middle class youths of Dynamite Hacks much needed street cred in their infamous remake of Boyz n da Hood in 2001.
Now Kurt contents himself with the study of Hip Hop in an anthropological context.
Hoping to graduate from University and pursue a MFA in some nebulous documentry film style
This happens to be an inconvienent truth.
But the truth is we all love kurtie, and wish him well, on his 24th birthday.
Kurt isn't it weird how we end up in life, where we are now, and the paths our lives have taken. Ckeck out this site, I find it fascinating and for me to say the word fascinating makes me want to vomit in my mouth. See general trends of Gen X for explanation.
